About Dorothy
Dorothy Sallis — born Dorothy Reis — came into the world around 1909 and lived a remarkable ninety-six years, passing on November 7, 2005. She was the devoted wife of Edwin Sallis, who preceded her in death, and together they built a family and a life that would stretch across generations and across the country.
Dorothy and Edwin raised six children: Daisy Mae Meyer, Dorothea Craft, Daniel Sallis, David Sallis, Dwight Sallis, and Dale Sallis. Their family spread from Michigan to North Carolina, Colorado to Milwaukee — though many remained close to home in the Milwaukee area where Dorothy spent much of her life. Daisy Mae preceded her mother in death; the remaining five carried her memory forward.
Throughout her long life, Dorothy was an artist. This gallery exists to share and preserve her work, kept alive by the family and friends she left behind.
